One of the first concerts I have in the diary for when I’m back after my injury is a recital with the pianist Clara Rodriguez on the 22nd November at St James’ Piccadilly at 7.30pm.
I’m really looking forward to this concert. The programme will include Beethoven, ‘Moonlight’ Sonata, Grieg Ciolin and Piano Sonata No 2 and Venezuelan music.
All proceeds from the concert will go to help young Venezuelan musicians.
In a letter Luis Miguel Gonzalez, President of FIDAV Foundation, writes:
‘FIDAV was initially founded with the idea of giving a helping hand to the recently graduated students, and up and coming artists with the need of an airfare to a local competition, hiring a concert venue for a small recital or paying the fees of an accompanist pianist, even the expenses to a summer course in or outside Venezuela.
FIDAV, due to the political crisis in our country, has had to change its focus, mission, vision altogether. We are now trying to procure our students, youngsters and teachers with the necessary equipment peculiar to their instrumental family; strings, rosins, mutes, bow hair, chin and shoulder rests, mouthpieces, reeds, even second-hand instruments.
I must say, the musical level in Venezuela is very high indeed, due to the continuous and hard work done by El Sistema during the last four decades; so I can assure you all things donated to our foundation will be used at the highest possible level.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart, all the help you can give to my country.
We just want to keep making music, great music……’
I hope that we will get a great audience for this worthy project and if you have any strings, rosin, mutes, bow hair, chin and shoulder rests, mouthpieces, reeds or instruments you can donate FIDAV would be extremely grateful. They can make use of new or used items still in working order – even second-hand bow hair! New and second-hand strings for violins, violas, cellos, double-basses or reeds for wind instruments will be hugely welcomed. You can send your kind donations to Clara Rodriguez by writing to email@example.com.
